Maurizio Verga was born in Como (Northern Italy) on March 21, 1963.

He received his formal education as a Textile Engineer, but soon emerged as one of the leading experts in Computer Aided Design solutions for the Textile and Fashion Industries along with other highly advanced computer-based projects. Since 1995 Maurizio has been active in marketing and sales of WEB-based products and services (usually developed after its ideas and visions) for the fashion industry.

In 1999 he had a new idea: the vision of a large "business-to-business" Marketplace to help Italian Fashion Companies to not only showcase, but to do instant business with international wholesale buyers through the Internet, without the extra expense of the "middle-man". On May 17, 2000 the Marketplace was officially launched : ItalianModa was born! Since that time, Maurizio has established the ItalianModa.com Srl company, of which he is CEO and Founder.

ItalianModa is now Europe's largest and most visited B2B Marketplace for the textile-fashion industry and one of the most important Internet portals worldwide. ItalianModa.com Srl dramatically expanded its global activities, developing new advanced solutions (for example: Electronic Catalogs and B2B Portals) and launching more B2B Marketplaces in other countries (United States, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Spain, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh).

Maurizio Verga is currently living in Cermenate, a village between Como and Milan in Northern Italy. Besides Italian, he speaks English fluently. He loves books (with a 2,500+ entry library), movies, soundtracks and travelling.

Maurizio's oldest and most avid hobby is seemingly an "odd" one: UFOs! Since 1977 he has been actively involved in this highly fascinating topic, which he approaches both seriously and objectively, stricly evaluating only the available facts along with a very pragmatic view. His personal view about UFOs is pretty skeptical and he claims to be a sort of "UFO Historian" (though he covers just a part of the complex UFO history).

He is the author of a large number of articles for several Italian and international magazines, as well as contributions to three books published in UK, France and the United States. In 2007 he published his firs book in English language ("When Saucers came to Earth"), while a second one is on the way. He has been a guest lecturer for several Congresses and Conferences in Italy, as well as he lectured in many countries, and given countless interviews to newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations.

In 1995 Maurizio created UFO ONLINE, one of the largest and most visited UFO WEB sites on the Internet. He also developed the UPIAR Store, an advanced E-Commerce site selling UFO books and magazines, mostly published by Centro Italiano Studi Ufologici (C.I.S.U.), the national UFO Research Center established by Maurizio and other UFO researchers in 1986.

Other interests that Maurizio persues are: computers, Space Exploration, Aviation, World War II (mainly 1944-1945), Atomic Tests, Science-Fiction Movies. He has a driving curiosity of life!
